Students urged to apply for scholarship

21 August 2018

King Country school leavers are being urged to apply for a scholarship to help pay their study fees.

Last month, The Lines Company (TLC) launched the first-ever TLC Inspiring Local Minds Scholarship programme open to school leavers who live or have gone to school locally.  Five scholarships of $2000 for each year of study are available, for a maximum of three years.

Applications opened on August 1, and already five school leavers have applied. Application forms are available from high schools throughout the King Country and Central Plateau as well as online at www.thelinescompany.co.nzTLC chief executive Sean Horgan has said the scholarship was designed to reward students with the right attitude, who shared TLC values. It was not just focused on academic achievement but instead sought to support local students who might bring their skills home.

As well as financial support, the TLC Inspiring Local Minds Scholarship could provide recipients with mentoring or work experience opportunities during holidays.

Scholarship applications close on Friday, August 31. All short-listed applicants will attend a face-to-face interview during September or October with a selection panel. Five inaugural scholarship winners will be announced later this year.
