Simon Young retires from the TLC Board

10 August 2020

The Lines Company (TLC) today acknowledged the retirement of long-standing board member Simon Young.

An energy sector expert, Young retires from the board having made a significant contribution to the business and community over the past 10 years.

His technical expertise, industry knowledge and decades of experience within the energy sector were a key factor in his value serving on the board.

“During Simon’s tenure our business has benefitted considerably from his counsel and experience,” said chair Mark Darrow.

Young was centre-stage for a number of key initiatives including chairing the Board committee that oversaw the Time of Use system change to reset TLC pricing, and provided greater benefit to the wider King Country community through many positive contributions.

“Simon led the pricing project from a governance perspective which provided an improved focus on customers.

“He’s a great advocate for consumers and has worked hard to address the key challenges people on our network face.  Our sincere thanks and best wishes go with him.  His commitment, diligence and friendship will certainly be missed.” Darrow said.

Young’s replacement Simon Fleisher was announced in June by shareholder Waitomo Energy Services Customer Trust (WESCT).
