TLC Community Funding for 2021 Opening Soon

24 February 2021

Local community groups with a project or a plan are encouraged to apply for The Lines Company (TLC) latest funding round which opens on 1 March 2021.

TLC GM Customer Service & Communications, Jo Ireland said the funding rounds were a way of TLC giving back to the community and helping with initiatives that improve the lives of people living on its network.

“Not only are we a large employer in the King Country be we are also like to play our part in supporting local initiatives and ideas that make our communities a better place to live.”

“Many community-based projects and events have benefited from TLC funding over many years and we intend to continue to do that. We want to support growth and development in the region while also giving back at a local level” Ms Ireland said.

Since 2017, TLC has provided sponsorships and community initiatives valued at over $200,000.

Over the past four years, a wide range of community projects and groups have been sponsored, including:

  • Otorohanga Riding for the Disabled
  • Junior and secondary rugby, league, dance, and other sports from Maihiihi to Turangi
  • Community foodbanks, tech start-ups and play centres across the network
  • Ōtorohanga Maori Women’s Welfare League
  • The Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust
  • Mangakino Family Services
  • Te Kuiti Bowling Club
  • Piopio Swimming pool

TLC’s last funding round in September saw 15 successful applicants receive community funding.

One of the successful applicants, The Te Kuiti Bowling Club, received $1,000 to go towards a heat pump to warm the club building during the winter months.

Ms Mary Davis from the club said the new heat pump will make a big difference this winter and members will be comfortable no matter the weather.

Funding will be given to projects or events that have high visibility, will benefit local communities, reach many people, and improve the lives of the people living within the TLC network.

Application forms will be available here when the funding round opens on Monday 1 March. Applications close on Wednesday 31 March.
